Brandy Barker is a printmaker and teaching artist just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, for now.
Brandy received her BFA in Printmaking from the University of West Georgia in 2008. After spending time as an intern at Atlanta Printmakers Studio and with the Fulton County Public Art Program, she moved to Chicago to continue her career in the arts and landed at Spudnik Press Cooperative as Studio Manager and Teaching Artist. After returning to Georgia, Brandy stepped in as Education Director at Atlanta Printmakers Studio, then handed over the reigns to pursuit more graphic design work. In addition to teaching print and design courses, she does freelance design and branding. Brandy is also the creator and director of Air Air, an artist residency program on commercial airlines, based out of Atlanta.
Working primarily in letterpress, screenprinting and relief, Brandy explores the major pathologies of thought and communication. Role reversals and disorientation are two reoccurring themes in her print work, blurring the lines of recognizable (letter)forms and new symbols of communication.
In Spring 2013, Brandy was the Artist in Residence in Hamburg, Germany at Villa Magdalena K.
Brandy also has an Etsy shop where she sells hand-printed paper and fabric goods, under the name Hello Lunch Printing
